J. F. Dudziak Insurance Agency Bedford, New Hampshire |
John F. Dudziak, C.P.C.U., agency principal. He is located in Bedford, New Hampshire which is next to Manchester, New Hampshire which is its largest city.
John had been an agency principal then sold his agency to set up a risk management consulting business. He worked with larger commercial lines accounts and also worked with a number of larger companies as an expert witness in litigated cases.
John continued the consulting business for approximately six to seven years, until he finally realized that there were no renewals in that line of work. He then decided to take his contacts and reopen his agency business. After he opened his office he soon found he could not get markets even though he had friends in the business.
He essentially was a ‘scratch’ agency, out of the direct sales business for several years, had no companies and no specific renewal book to transfer. He of course, then joined SAN and was given several direct sub-coded appointments. He was also able to build his agency by writing larger commercial lines accounts, taking advantage of his contacts from his consulting business and, through Access Plus, was able to gather the number of quotes needed to quote the larger commercial lines business. To do this, it meant that he had to compete against larger agencies. SAN gave him the ability to do so.
Shortly after John signed with SAN, he attended a SAN Members Principal Meeting. He asked to be recognized and proceeded to tell the attendees that he had opened agency, which again had no markets and no value. Now, John said: “I have an agency with access to over 30 companies, and at the time, with over 40 million in written premium. When I signed my SAN agreement, I became instantly big!” This is where the “instantly big” phrase was coined.
